The showcase games were selected for innovation, creativity, beauty, and fun, and I’m excited and humbled that The Eyes of Ara has been chosen as one of the winners. The Eyes of Ara patch 1.0.03 - New Invert Camera options and Bug Fixes And if you’re in Melbourne this year for Unite, be sure to drop by the booth! There’s some stellar work in the showcase, which you can check out at the link below. The ability to invert the X and Y axis of the camera independently is a feature that a lot of people have been asking for. I bought a truck from a local car dealer through eBay motors. I was the high bidder with a couple minutes left in the auction.Īs the clocked ticked down i kept hitting refresh, with 2 seconds left some guy (presumably using an auction sniper tool) outbid me, i put my max price in and snuck the bid in with a second left manually.Īs the auction closed, I won. ![]() I called the dealership and got a hold of them after about a half hour. The dealer told me that this guy called in a couple minutes before the auction ended and wanted to know if the truck was ready to go and that there was "no way he was losing this auction". turns out this was the guy that i beat by ONE second. He kept calling them flipping out that he won and telling them he was the winner and to set something up. They kept telling him to reply to the winning auction email with his name, address, phone number, etc so they knew it was him. eventually he showed up in person with cash in hand and tried to outbid me in person after the auction ended. Moral of the Story: if you want something bad enough, you won't be sniped, PERIOD. I think the problem lies with the simple fact that people do not understand what Proxy bidding is and how it works. If ebay used standard auction bidding (who'll give me 20 now 20 now 20 now, 25 - 25 who'll give me 25), than yes, sniping would be a problem. The only person who sniping "hurts" are the folks who want to pay $20 (and consequently set their bid at $20) for a $100 item. ![]() I snipe items because bidders on ebay are irrational and emotion driven (as previously stated). Let's use the example of the guy setting a max bid of $20 of the $100 item. On Tuesday Bidder one (screen name: butthurt-lowbid) sets his max (proxy) bid at of $20 - Since there are no other bidders yet ebay starts the bidding at $0.99. On Thursday bidder two (lets call him bottomfeeder) comes along and thinks, "wow, what a bargain! only $0.99 for that $100 item" and offers $2.00. Since Ebay uses the proxy system, this is within butthurt-lowbid's max bid of $20, and ebay automatically increases his bid to $2.05, and is still the high bidder.īottomfeeder ponders this and "counters" at $2.10. Ebays proxy system kicks butthurt-lowbid's bid up to $2.15.
